Robert S. Kapito is President and a Director of BlackRock, a premier provider of global investment management, risk management, and advisory services.

Robert is a member of BlackRock’s Global Executive Committee and Chairman of the Global Operating Committee. He is responsible for day-to-day oversight of BlackRock’s key operating units, including Investment Strategies, Client Businesses, Technology & Operations, and Risk & Quantitative Analysis. Mr Kapito is also a Director of iShares Inc.

Robert serves as a member of the Harvard Business School Board of Dean’s Advisors and the Global Leadership Council at the University of Oxford’s Saïd Business School. He is President of the Board of Directors for Hope and Heroes Children’s Cancer Fund. Mr Kapito is a former Trustee of the University of Pennsylvania and former Chairman of the UJA-Federation of New York. He is the recipient of the 2009 Joseph Wharton Leadership Award, the Marine Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation’s 2010 Semper Fidelis Award and is a frequent public speaker on best practices in investment management.

Robert earned a BS degree in economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1979, and an MBA degree from Harvard Business School in 1983.

Nuno Matos was appointed as CEO of HSBC Wealth and Personal Banking (“WPB”) in February 2021.

WPB serves over 41 million customers with USD2.5 trillion of financial assets across 35 markets, through c.86,000 employees globally. WPB delivers lending and transactional banking, as well as wealth management, including asset management and insurance. It provides products and propositions to the full client continuum, from mass market and mass affluent retail customers to the Private Banking segment. In 2023, WPB generated USD27.3 billion in revenues and USD11.5 billion in profit before tax.

Nuno joined HSBC in 2015 from Santander. During his time with the Group, he has held the roles of Chief Executive Officer of HSBC Mexico and regional head of Retail Banking and Wealth Management in Latin America. He was most recently the Chief Executive Officer of HSBC Bank plc and HSBC Europe, a role he held from March 2020, and was responsible for managing the transformation of the European business.

Nuno has 34 years of experience in the financial services sector, across retail, commercial, corporate and global banking and markets. He started his career in his native Portugal and has worked in the US, the UK, Spain, France, Peru, Brazil, Mexico and is now based in Hong Kong.

He has a degree in Business Administration and an MBA in Finance from the Universidade Catolica Portuguesa.

Based in Hong Kong, Francis Belin has been President of Christie’s Asia Pacific since January 2019. In this leadership role, Francis manages all Asia Pacific-based teams including the regional offices and is accountable for all transactions made by Asia-based collectors globally, across live, online, and private sales. In addition, he globally oversees Christie’s Asian and World Art departments and the Luxury departments.

Under Francis’ helm, Christie’s Asia Pacific has established a series of milestones and record-breaking results. Sales in Asia in 2021 reached a staggering US$1 billion – the highest annual total for the region, and in 2023, Asia Pacific accounted for 28% of Christie’s global auction sales, up from 26% in 2022. Additionally, Francis is overseeing Christie’s landmark initiative to relocate its APAC headquarters to The Henderson in 2024 – a major new building in Hong Kong’s central business hub. With 50,000 square feet of art-inspired space, the move will enable Christie’s to provide an exceptional level of service to clients and enthusiasts, with a year-round saleroom and state-of-the-art gallery presence in Asia.

Francis has over 20 years of experience in premium and luxury consumer goods. He joined Christie’s in 2016 as Global Managing Director, Asian Art, from his previous role with Swarovski, overseeing their business in Asia Pacific. Francis began his career in Management Consulting at McKinsey & Co. in Europe and Asia. He is a member of the Board of Advisors for Kids Earth Fund in Japan, and serves on various boards as non-executive Chairman and Independent Non-executive Director.

Francis holds a degree in Management from the ESSEC Business School in France and a Diplom-Kaufmann from the University of Mannheim in Germany, majoring in Business Administration and Psychology.

Dr Sarah Bird leads Microsoft’s responsible AI engineering effort, working to accelerate the adoption and positive impact of AI by bringing together the latest innovations in research, product and policy. She helps to create and apply responsible AI principles, standards and tools across the company, and has led the cross-company group of experts to build Microsoft Copilot and Github Copilot, among other key Microsoft products.

Sarah has been in the field of responsible AI since its inception. She is one of the founding researchers of the first responsible AI group at Microsoft, an active member of the Microsoft AETHER committee and contributed to the creation of the Microsoft Responsible AI Standard.

She received her Ph.D. in computer science from Berkeley, where her advisor was Turing Award winner Dave Patterson. Before joining Microsoft, Sarah was also a founding member of the AI ethics group at Facebook.

She is also the New York site lead for engineering and research at Microsoft and is passionate about New York as a place for technology development and innovation. Sarah ’s team is lighting the way in terms of what’s possible in responsible AI, showing real examples of AI that works safely and responsibly that are moving the field forward.

A leading expert in robot ethics, Dr Kate Darling heads The AI Institute’s study of AI ethics and societal impact, and oversees a team of researchers who explore key societal questions related to the development of intelligent machines. Previously, she was a research scientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Media Lab and continues to call the university her academic home as expands her groundbreaking investigations into social robotics and conducts experimental studies on human-robot interaction.

Kate explores the emotional connection between people and life-like machines, seeking to influence technology design and policy direction. Kate’s writing and research anticipate difficult questions that lawmakers, engineers, and the wider public will need to address as human-robot relationships evolve in the coming decades.

Forever interested in how technology intersects with society, she has a background in law and economics as well as intellectual property. Kate has researched economic incentives in copyright and patent systems and has taken a role as intellectual property expert at multiple academic and private institutions. Named one of the “Women in Robotics You Need to Know About” by Robohub, she currently serves as intellectual property policy advisor to the director of the MIT Media Lab. She is also the author of the book “The New Breed: What Our History with Animals Reveals About Our Future with Robots”, exploring how building diverse relationships with robots could be the key to making our future with robotic technology work.

Her passion for technology and robots has led her to interdisciplinary fields. After co-teaching a robot ethics course at Harvard Law School with Professor Lawrence Lessig, she increasingly works at the intersection of law and robotics, with a focus on legal and social issues. Kate is a former Fellow at the Harvard Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society and the Yale Information Society Project, and is also an affiliate at the Institute for Ethics and Emerging Technologies.

Kate’s work has been featured in Vogue, The New Yorker, The Guardian, BBC, NPR, PBS, The Boston Globe, Forbes, CBC, WIRED magazine, Boston Magazine, The Atlantic, Slate, Die Zeit, The Japan Times, and many more major publications and outlets. She is a contributing writer to Robohub and IEEE Spectrum and speaks and holds workshops covering some of the more interesting developments in the world of robotics, and where we might find ourselves in the future.

Kate graduated from law school with honoUrs and holds a doctorate of sciences from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich) and an honorary doctorate of sciences from Middlebury College. In 2017, the American Bar Association honored her legal work with the Mark T. Banner award in Intellectual Property. She was also recognised in 2017 as a “Radar Thinker” by Thinkers50. She is the caretaker for several domestic robots, including her Pleos Yochai, Peter, and Mr. Spaghetti.

Chen Ding joined CSOP Asset Management Limited in 2010 and is the Chief Executive Officer, overseeing the overall business of the Manager. From 2003 to June 2013, Chen was the Assistant CEO and Managing Director of China Southern Asset Management Co. Ltd., one of the largest fund management companies in China. During her tenure with the company, she issued China’s first and largest QDII mutual fund, and successfully established the QDII business of China Southern Asset Management Co. Ltd.. She was also a member of the Investment Management Committee of China Southern Asset Management Co. Ltd., where she was responsible for setting investment policies and strategies of the fund, monitoring market, portfolio and systematic risk, asset allocation and stock selection in addition to reviewing and monitoring portfolio performance of the fund.

Chen also actively participates in community services. She co-founded Chinese Asset Management Association of Hong Kong with industry peers in 2013 and served as the Chairperson of the association. The association actively promoted positive interaction between Chinese Asset Management companies and strived to provide a conducive business environment for Chinese Asset Management companies in Hong Kong. Chen made outstanding contributions to the prosperity of Hong Kong’s capital market by actively advising on projects such as the establishment of RQFII scheme, Mutual Recognition of Funds between the Mainland and Hong Kong, Inclusion of ETFs in Stock Connect and Wealth Management Connect Scheme. Chen was the only person from the financial services industry who was awarded the Medal of Honour by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative region in July 2021, in recognition of her contributions to the Hong Kong’s financial market over the years.

Chen resigned from Chairperson in 2020 and is currently the Permanent Honorary Chairperson of Chinese Asset Management Association of Hong Kong. She was also appointed as Vice-Chairman of the Hong Kong Financial Services Development Council in January 2023 as well as Convenor of Mainland Opportunities Committee of the Hong Kong Financial Services Development Council since 2019. In addition, Chen is now a member of the Hong Kong Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Appeal Board, and Executive Board Member of the Hong Kong Treasury Markets Association. Prior to that, she served as a member of the Product Advisory Committee of the Securities and Futures Commission, a member of the Process Review Panel of the Securities and Futures Commission, a member of the Securities and Futures Appeals Tribunal, a member of the Financial Infrastructure and Market Development Sub-Committee of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, the Co-Chairman of the International Business Committee of the Asset Management Association of China and the Vice Chairperson of Chinese Securities Association of Hong Kong.

Chen was awarded as the CEO of the year by I&M Professional Investment Awards in 2022 and 2023, and the CEO of the Year in Asia by Asia Asset Management in 2023.

Michael C. Gitlin is president and CEO of Capital Group. In his role, Mike draws on his strong experience in the investment, client-facing, and operating groups, to work with other leaders to execute on Capital Group’s long-term strategy. Mike also serves as chair of both the Capital Group Management Committee and Finance Committee. Capital Group is one of the world’s largest investment management organizations, with $2.3 trillion in assets and a singular focus on delivering superior results for investors since 1931.

Prior to becoming president and CEO, Mike served for 8 years as the Head of fixed income for Capital Group. Mike helped the company become one of the largest active fixed income managers globally, with approximately $475 billion in assets and 50 years of experience in fixed income markets. He has also been responsible for overseeing global trading and the client groups in Europe and Asia Pacific.

Mike holds a bachelor’s degree from Colgate University and has 29 years of investment industry experience. Prior to joining Capital, he was head of fixed income at T. Rowe Price, and earlier its global head of trading. Before that, he was head of U.S. equity sales for Citigroup Global Markets, where he also served as head of Asia-Pacific sales trading, head of Asia-Pacific cash equities and head of international cash equities. He also served as head of Asia-Pacific trading for Credit Suisse Asset Management and traded Japanese equities and bonds for George Weiss and Associates.

Mike works passionately to support veterans. He is heavily involved with Catch A Lift Fund, which enables post-9/11 combat-injured veterans to recover and rehabilitate, both physically and mentally, through physical fitness, motivation and support. He and his wife Kris Anne are also supporters of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Mike has lived and worked in London, Hong Kong, Singapore, Baltimore, Connecticut and New York, and is currently based in Los Angeles.

Ming Lu joined KKR in 2006. He is the Executive Chairman, Asia Pacific at KKR and is a Partner of Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. L.P. Ming currently serves as a member of the KKR Asian Private Equity Investment Committee and KKR Asian Portfolio Management Committee. He has played a significant role in private equity investments across Asia Pacific. Since 2018, he has been playing a leadership role in KKR Asia’s growth and expansion, including serving as a member of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Committee and Asian Real Estate Investment Committee.

He was previously a Partner at CCMP Capital Asia (formerly J.P. Morgan Partners Asia). At JPMP Asia, Ming was responsible for investments in the automotive, consumer and industrial sectors in Korea, China, Japan, Australia and South East Asia. Prior to joining JPMP Asia in 1999, Ming was President of Asia Pacific at Lucas Varity, a leading global automotive component supplier. From 1993 to 1997, Ming worked for Kraft Foods International Inc. From 1985 to 1993, he worked for CITIC, the largest direct investment firm in China.

Ming received a B.A. in Economics from Wuhan University of Hydroelectrical Engineering in China and an M.B.A. from University of Leuven in Belgium.

Matthew Michelini is Partner, Head of Asia-Pacific at Apollo and a member of the Firm’s Leadership Team. Matt joined Apollo in 2006 in Private Equity and has played a pivotal role in the creation and success of many of Apollo’s largest growth initiatives, including Athene, Hybrid Value, Apollo Dedicated Insurance Program, Natural Resources, and the development of the Financials Group. Matt serves as Investment Chair for Apollo’s Hybrid Value business and on the board of directors of Athene Holding Ltd. and Venerable Holdings, and previously served on the boards of Aleris Corporation, Metals USA, Noranda Aluminum, One Main Financial, and Warrior Met Coal.

Previously, Matt was a member of the Mergers & Acquisitions group at Lazard Frères & Co.

Joan Solotar is the Global Head of Private Wealth Solutions. She serves on the firm’s Management Committee. Blackstone’s Private Wealth Solutions’ mission is to bring institutional quality products across a broad spectrum of alternative asset classes to high net worth clients and their advisors. Joan also serves on the board of directors of First Eagle Investment Management.

Before joining Blackstone in 2007, Joan was Head of Equity Research at Bank of America Securities and a highly ranked Institutional Investor All Star financial services analyst at Credit Suisse and Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette.

Joan is a member of the Board of Trustees of East Harlem Tutorial Program and East Harlem Scholars Academies. She wrote a Harvard Business Review article entitled, “Truths for our Daughters,” and co-authored, "Truths from My Daughter."

Joan received a BS in Management Information Systems from the State University of New York at Albany and an MBA in Finance from New York University.

As a multicultural editor and journalist with more than 17 years experience in media, Jing is a well-recognised expert in China, luxury, and fashion, speaking regularly at global summits. She now helms the global team and overseas editorial direction at Jing Daily.

Prior to becoming Jing Daily’s Global Editor-in-Chief in 2022, she held roles as Fashion Editor at South China Morning Post, Editor at Large at Prestige HK ,and Managing Editor at WestEast Magazine.

Lavanya Chari is Global Head of Investments and Wealth Solutions (IWS) at HSBC Global Private Banking and Wealth, responsible for the products, platforms and propositions that make up a digitally empowered and internationally-connected client offering. Lavanya leads teams covering a broad range of products and services, from Chief Investment Office, Managed Solutions and Capital Markets to Advisory, Discretionary and Sustainable Investments, as well as Lending, Trust, and Insurance activities.

Based in Singapore and a member of the Global Private Banking and Wealth Executive Committee, Lavanya joined HSBC in July 2020 and spearheaded the launch of IWS the following year, creating a unified global products function, well positioned to serve the diverse needs of Personal Banking, Premier, HNW and UHNW clients, in a scalable and efficient way.

Lavanya is passionate about sustainable investing, particularly the team's work in helping clients make investment decisions that bring about positive and impactful environmental and social change. She is the sponsor of IWS Women's Network (IWin), an employee resource group where women are empowered and inspired to develop and progress in their careers.

Lavanya started her career at Deutsche Bank in London, spending 14 years in Global Markets in various product leadership roles before joining the private bank in 2016 and relocating to Singapore, where she ran products and solutions for Asia Pacific before assuming global responsibility. Lavanya holds a BA in Aerospace Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in Madras, and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management in Bangalore.

Luanne Lim was appointed Chief Executive, Hong Kong, HSBC, in February 2022, having previously served as Chief Operating Officer, Hong Kong, HSBC, a role that she held since 2017.

Luanne has more than 25 years of experience in the banking industry. Since joining HSBC Retail Banking in Singapore in 1999, she has held leadership roles and spearheaded strategic growth and transformation initiatives across HSBC’s key markets in Asia, including:

Mainland China: Set up and built a sizeable client operations division of a strategic joint venture.
Vietnam: Supported the significant expansion of the business and the local incorporation of HSBC Bank (Vietnam) Ltd, the first wholly foreign-owned bank to operate both branches and transaction offices in Vietnam. She continues to serve as a member of HSBC Bank (Vietnam) Ltd’s Members’ Council.
Malaysia: Led HSBC Data Processing Malaysia Sdn Bhd, supporting businesses and operations for more than 25 markets around the globe.
Indonesia: Oversaw the integration of PT Bank Ekonomi with HSBC Indonesia in her capacity as the Chief Operating Officer and a director of the Board.

During her time as Chief Operating Officer, Hong Kong, Luanne delivered key innovation and efficiency programmes that demonstrate her strong understanding of the needs of our customers and employees in Hong Kong.

Luanne currently holds various roles in the financial services industry. She serves as Chairperson of the Hong Kong Association of Banks, and sits on the Banking Advisory Committee and Financial Infrastructure and Market Development Sub-Committee of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority. She is a council member of Treasury Markets Association and a member of the Academy of Finance. She is also the Chairperson of Financial Services Advisory Committee and the Asia Financial Forum Steering Committee of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC). Additionally, she contributes as a member of the HKTDC’s Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Taskforce on Trade and Investment and the United Nations Sustainable Business Network Taskforce on Finance.

Luanne is also a strong advocate for workplace inclusion and has a deep commitment to fostering a compassionate society. She currently serves as a board member and executive committee member of The Community Chest.

Maggie Ng is Head of Wealth and Personal Banking, Hong Kong, HSBC. She is responsible for driving the growth agenda for HSBC’s most valuable WPB business, supporting the financial and wealth needs across the full spectrum of the Bank’s customer base.

Maggie has a proven track record in delivering growth, improving customer advocacy, driving digital transformation and effectively managing risks.

She joined HSBC from IG Group, a leading online trading provider, where she was the Greater China CEO. Prior to that, Maggie co-founded a fintech wealth management and asset management company – Assured Asset Management – which was recognised in 2019 as the “Best New Wealth Management Platform” by AsiaAsset Management magazine and “Editors’ Triple Star” by the Asset magazine.

With over 20 years of experience in the finance industry, Maggie is a seasoned banking professional, having held a number of senior local and regional positions at Citibank in both business and risk management. In her earlier career, Maggie worked for leading professional services firm Ernst & Young (Australia) and global resources company BHP Billiton.

She is a graduate of UNSW Australia with a Bachelor degree of Technology, and holds an MBA in Accounting and Finance from California State University, Hayward.

Dr Mark McDonald is Head of Data Science and Analytics for HSBC Global Research. Mark is the lead author of HSBC’s flagship quant publication, Data Matters, which applies a variety of Machine Learning techniques across different asset classes. Mark is also responsible for HSBC’s “Listen Up” analysis which uses modern Natural Language Processing techniques to investigate what company management are saying on equity earnings calls. In addition to this, Mark leads the AI Working Group for HSBC Global Research.

Before joining HSBC in 2006, Mark obtained a DPhil in applied mathematics from the University of Oxford. His doctoral research investigating the dynamics of correlation networks in FX markets was sponsored by the HSBC FX Strategy team.

Erin Platts is CEO, HSBC Innovation Banking UK and is responsible for leading, developing and scaling the Bank’s business across the UK and Nordics. HSBC Innovation Banking is a full-service UK subsidiary Bank with all local operations and functions under Erin’s leadership. Erin is well versed in scaling highly regulated businesses, is an active spokesperson for the ecosystem, and is experienced working across several global regulators. Erin also joined HSBC UK's Executive Committee in June 2023 and previously served on several external boards.

As a 20-year veteran of banking the innovation sector, Erin joined SVB Financial Group in 2004, relocated to the UK in 2007 and was most recently CEO of SVB UK from 2019 and until HSBC's acquisition in March 2023. Along with the team she scaled the business to over 800 people across 6 countries and led through various successful banking licenses including transforming the UK operations to a standalone regulated subsidiary in 2022.

Erin is a well-connected and active champion of the global innovation economy and is a dual US and UK citizen. Under Erin’s leadership several external partnerships have been formed with HSBC Innovation Banking to advance the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion agenda in the local markets which include Career Ready, the Newton Venture Program, Diversity VC, Tech Nation, Founders Forum, & Atomico’s State of European Tech report.

In 2020, Erin was selected by Innovate Finance as a Top Women in Fintech under the Senior leader category and by Computer Weekly in the top 200 Most Influential Women in Tech. Erin earned a BA in Business Management and Entrepreneurial Studies from Babson College in Wellesley, Massachusetts.

Annabel Spring was appointed CEO, HSBC Global Private Banking and Wealth in September 2020. She joined HSBC in April 2019 and prior to her current role she led retail banking and wealth product teams including sustainability, customer experience and advocacy and the global propositions. She was also responsible for data and analytics, digital messaging experiences and sales across WPB.

From 2009-2018 Annabel was a member of the Group Executive of the Commonwealth Bank where she was Group Executive of the Wealth Management Division, and Global Head of Strategy responsible for mergers and acquisitions, government relations and communications. Prior to CBA Annabel was Managing Director, Global Head of Firm Strategy and Execution at Morgan Stanley after joining the Firm in 1994.

Annabel holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a Bachelors of Laws and Economics from the University of Sydney.
